By the age of 14 or in 9th grade, the IEP team must address transition. Many questions arise such as what tools to use when evaluating, how to interpret those scores, how to address transition in the IEP, and how to prepare students for post-secondary life. There will be a series of inservices provided by CTIC designed to address these questions and more. The first inservice will be Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 9-11 AM at Bemidji High School. The focus will be on developing a transition plan using tools appropriate for the student being evaluated and interpreting results. The inservice will be presented by Dr. Miriam (Mim) White and Tiffany Palmer. Mim is an assistant professor at Bemidji State University who teaches future educators special education classes. Prior to teaching at the post-secondary level, Mim taught in the area of special education for 25 years. Tiffany Palmer is a special education teacher at Bemidji High School. She has taught in the area of special education for 22 years, the last 16 years at Bemidji High School. Both Mim and Tiffany look forward to sharing their knowledge of transition with you.
